“Without OYAP it wouldn’t happen. Children and young people with the most complex needs would miss out.”

Local treasures inspire haunting stories from Oxfordshire’s young people.

If you are aged 16-25 you could be working with a professional theatre artist throughout January at The Oxfordshire Museum Woodstock creating an exciting trail for museum visitors to try out. You'll be creating characters and haunting stories inspired by mysteries of Oxfordshire and developing an intriguing trail that will lead visitors around Oxfordshire’s treasures, one riddle at a time.

The project aims to bring local hidden secrets to the surface in a unique and enticing way.  Woodstock is just one of three in the Hidden Project series that explores and celebrates local heritage through creativity.

Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded OYAP Trust a grant to work with young people in Witney, Woodstock and Wantage and explore the secrets and treasures of their local towns. The project, a partnership between OYAP Trust, The Oxfordshire Museum, The Vale and Downland Museum and Cogges Manor Farm is a fresh approach to outreach that will inspire young people to explore the county’s unique heritage.

Vicious Youth - A film about the perception of young people in the media

Last year we worked with a group of extraordinary young people. The film they made, Vicious Youth - A film by OYAP Trust and Jewson Film Productions - is a cautionary tale of a world in which society's response to the problem of 'Youths' has frightening consequences.

With the media frenzy over the recent riots, it’s a reminder of what young people can achieve with positive support. Let’s give it another airing…

The project set out to question perceptions of young people in the media.and hear the voices of young people who have been marginalised or are at risk of becoming invisible in society. With the help of Autism Oxford, Autism Family Support and Oxfordshire's Looked After Children service OYAP Trust brought together a group of 13-18 year olds to tell their own story in their own way.

Witney youth in a spin at Pimp My Bike

This summer, over 15 young people aged 10-18, brought their broken BMX’s and rusted mountain bikes to Base 33, a youth centre in the heart of Witney, to take part in the workshop “Pimp My Bike”, a two day community-building workshop. Check out the film made by one of OYAP's Young Leaders, Sam Hamper...

Funded by Sanctuary with support from Cottsway Housing and West Oxfordshire District Council, Pimp My Bike saw young people learn to strip down and rebuild their bikes, whilst also “pimping” the bodywork with a spray paint makeover.

Participants were delighted that their hard work stripping, sanding and spraying had unleashed a new lease of life for their BMX's.

About Us

OYAP Trust (Oxfordshire Youth Arts Partnership) is Oxfordshire’s youth arts charity. Since 1998 we have worked in partnership with artists, community groups, creative practitioners and local authorities to bring the arts to the county’s most vulnerable 11-25 year olds.

Through projects like Pimp My Bike, Stepping Up and the Hill End project young people have increased their confidence, self esteem and gained recognition for their creativity through performance, exhibitions and the Arts Award qualification. OYAP Trust enables young people to use their creativity as a catalyst for change in their own lives and in their communities.
