Be a part of the Tree of Light at Half Term in Bicester

We're looking for 30 performers to take part in this unique dance project and learn original choreography with a professional dancer. During June and July you will work towards two major performances as part of the Olympic celebrations in Oxfordshire this summer. Sign up to secure your place today!
The project is open to all young people in Bicester, you don’t have to have any dance experience, just energy and willingness to get stuck in. The project will culminate in a unique performance on 9th July when the Olympic torch arrives in Oxford and again in Stonor Park on 21st July when 1,200 dancers from across the Thames Valley will join together and perform in the Tree of Light spectacular.
The Tree of Light is funded by Legacy Trust UK, creating a lasting impact from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by funding ideas and local talent to inspire creativity across the UK.

Contemporary Dance arrives in Bicester
Young dance artists Effie McGuire Ward, Emily Sutton and Esther Lim have brought live dance performance to Bicester’s town centre – appearing as moving mannequins in Paton Place, the vintage emporium.
Passers-by in Crown Walk were surprised on Tuesday afternoon by the dancers performing in and around the shop window. The quirky dance movements stopped people in their tracks and showed off vintage gowns from Paton Place. Jessica-Kate Biggs professional make-up artist was on hand to transform the dancers into moving mannequins.
Effie is working us on our Stepping Up Programme which supports young artists at the beginning of their careers. Effie has big plans for the project and is planning more opportunities for young people in Bicester get involved in performance.
A big thank you to Rebecca at Paton Place for hosting the event and providing the fabulous vintage outfits, Jessica-Kate Biggs for makeup and Stu Allsopp for the wonderful photographs.
