New website created by young people, for young people - www.familybreakups.com

Fragments ground-breaking arts project, run in partnership between OYAP Trust and Oxfordshire Family Mediation, designed to help young people across the country deal with the trauma of parental separation and divorce.
The young people working on this project decided they wanted to take action. Throughout a number of sessions in and out of school, groups of young people in Oxfordshire were supported and encouraged to reflect on their own experiences of parental separation and divorce. The project aimed to give the young people space to express themselves creatively, the outcomes of which were brought together to create an interactive resource that spoke from a young person’s perspective. There was also a chance for the young people involved to complete an Arts Award during their time working on the project.
The website is a fun, inventive and interactive way for young people to get support and advice on how to deal with these problems.
On Wednesday 23rd September, www.familybreakups.com was officially launched at an event at The Studio on Crown Walk. An invited audience of family and friends, as well as BBC Oxfordshire, came together to celebrate all the hard work that has been put into this website. A number of the young people who created the website also spoke about the project on BBC Oxfordshire’s morning radio show and on the local news.
The young people have since been busy publicizing their website by sending out press releases, being interviewed for radio and newspapers and using social media.
