The Youth of Bicester are a group of young people aged between 14-18 that aim to spread kindness through community missions.
To do this, the YoBs host both youth and community events, undertake kindness missions and volunteer for local causes. At the same time, they continue to develop ideas in the wider community to promote the Youth of Bicester as a creative and supportive group.
Their achievements include different forms of guerrilla bombing (it’s friendlier than it sounds!) around Bicester such as yarn bombing around the town centre, random acts of kindness and fun: posting kind words around the French market, handing out free books on World Book Day and hosting a "Wish Tree" in Bicester town centre for passers-by to hang their wishes for their community on its branches. The YoBs have also set up The Studio, a creative youth cafe and arts space in Crown Walk that hosts a number of arts activities for the community and music and film nights for teenagers.
One of the YoBs proudest achievement is the production and launch of I am BoB (Book of Bicester) - a book dedicated to the people of Bicester. This project took the YoBs out in the streets of Bicester, where they photographed, filmed and interviewed passers-by as they attempted to get to know their town a little better. This developed into an on-going website project of the same name: iamBoB. To find out more about this project please follow the link below.
